Rural development - support and assistance
Updated: 19 May 2018
Support and assistance
We are involved in a range of activities including home improvement, community development support and assistance with social and affordable housing. We have also provided planning and technical advice and worked with local communities to develop regeneration plans and help deliver local projects.
All these activities can inject confidence into local areas, regenerate communities and contribute to rural development. It is our view that housing and rural development go hand-in-hand. Rural development is of limited value if there are no decent homes for rural dwellers; decent housing is of limited value if there is no thriving economy and sustainable community locally.
Under our Rural Strategy & Action Plan (2014-2020) we will continue to work in local partnerships and build links with rural interests such as the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, the Rural Community Network and the Rural Development Council.
We are pleased to announce the launch our match-funding initiative to support rural community groups who have applied for Rural Development Programme (RDP) funding in 2018/19.
- Do you have a project which is under consideration for RDP funding under the ‘Basic Services’ or ‘Village Renewal’ measures?
- Will your project benefit local social housing areas?
- Will your project meet an identified need in your rural area?
If you have answered ‘yes’ to these questions we would like to hear from you.
In order to support rural communities in their efforts to ensure that everyone has access to services and opportunities and/or to improve and enhance their local environment, the Housing Executive can provide match-funding of 15% up to £20,000.
In order to apply please complete the application form ( 63 KB) and return to:
The Rural & Regeneration Unit

Or email to : email@example.com
The completed form should be returned by 15th June 2018.
