Pupils across Northern Ireland are being urged to enter a new home energy poster competition to be in with a chance of winning cash prizes up to £1,000.
The Housing Executive has partnered with the Education Authority to launch the Home Energy Schools Poster Competition this week.
Primary 7 classes are being asked to design a poster that shows how to save energy in their homes. There are fantastic prizes up for grabs, including awards of £1,000, £750 and £500 for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed classes.
The winning Primary 7 class will also be invited to attend a prize giving day in Belfast and their poster will be used by the Housing Executive as part of their energy efficiency promotional material.
Robert Clements, our Sustainable Development Manager said:
“As the Home Energy Conservation Authority for Northern Ireland, we want to encourage young people to take steps to make their home more energy efficient and help their parents or guardians save money on their energy bills.
“By partnering with the Education Authority, we are able to engage with school children and harness their creative skills to promote the benefits of energy efficiency in the home Each school has already been sent an application pack to get them started so now it’s over to the budding designers to showcase their work!”
All schools should complete their application pack for the competition before the 27th of April. The panel, which is made up of Housing Executive and Education Authority staff, will notify the finalists in May 2018.
