A major makeover of Housing Executive properties in Annadale in South Belfast has taken place with residents returning to refurbished homes.
For the last year, work has been carried out to 18 bungalows, with an overall investment of £715,000 in the upgrade programme.
As well as providing new and extended kitchens, bedrooms were enlarged and residents now enjoy new private gardens.
Carole Johnston, Housing Executive South Belfast Manager, said; “We spent around £40,000 on each home included in the scheme.
“Kitchens were entirely remodeled and we also took the opportunity to do other upgrades.
“This included extending the properties to give added floor space, increased provision for vital appliances and extra natural light.
“We know that residents will benefit from their extended kitchens and hope the work will improve their day to day lives in their homes.”
Reaction from residents has been very positive, with one tenant, Hilary Wilson, saying; “I’ve a lot more room in the house now and my new kitchen is lovely and fresh.
“I got to choose my own doors and handles for the cupboards and I picked the colours as well, so I felt part of the whole process.
“I’d like to thank the Housing Executive for upgrading my home and improving my life.”
