How to buy with other people

A maximum of four people including the secure tenant can apply to buy their Housing Executive home. A joint purchase must be one of the following:
- the spouse of the tenant, or
- a person who has resided with the tenant for 12 months prior to the application under the scheme.
If the applicant is in receipt of Housing Benefit, prospective joint purchasers must be included within their Housing Benefit as non dependent.
Where the tenant is not in receipt of Housing Benefit two items of proof are required – one for the 12 month period prior to the application and one to confirm the current occupancy. The following are the required documents:
- benefit notifications
- wages / salary slips (where they indicate the employee’s address)
- bank / building society statement
- utility bills.
National Insurance numbers must be provided for all joint purchasers. Incomplete applications will be returned to the applicant.
Where there is a joint tenancy all parties named in the tenancy agreement must apply under the scheme to protect all joint tenants.
